Privacy Policy — Folders & Bulk Delete Chats for Claude
Effective date: July 21, 2026
Folders & Bulk Delete Chats for Claude ("the extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension that helps you organize, search, and clean up your Claude chat history on claude.ai. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles, why, and who processes it. It is written to be accurate to what the extension's code actually does.
In one sentence: your chat contents are never sent to Sidewing. Chat IDs, titles, folders, and pins are stored in Chrome extension storage; Chrome may sync folders and pins through your Google Account if sync is enabled. If you activate Pro, the raw license key is stored locally and sent over HTTPS through our Cloudflare Worker to Polar. The current v0.1.0 build sends no analytics or error telemetry.
1. Data that stays on your device
The extension does not send the following chat and organization data to Sidewing, Polar, or Cloudflare. Folder and pin data may be synced by Chrome through your Google Account as described below:
- A local index of your chats — the chat ID and title of each chat as shown in the Claude sidebar, plus the time we last saw it. We read chat titles only to list and organize them. We never read, store, or transmit the contents of your conversations.
- Your organization — the folders you create (names and which chats you file in them) and the chats you pin.
About cross-device sync. Your folder and pin layout is
stored using Chrome's extension storage, including storage.sync.
If you are signed in to Chrome with sync enabled, your browser may copy this
layout between your own devices under your own Google Account. This
synchronization is performed by your browser, not by us —
we never receive or have access to it. Your local chat
index (titles) is stored only on the current device and is not synced.
You can remove all of this data at any time by deleting folders in the panel, clearing the extension's storage, or uninstalling the extension.
2. Data that reaches us or our processors
2.1. License key (only if you activate Pro)
When you press Activate, the raw license key is stored in
chrome.storage.local and sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare
Worker, which forwards it to Polar's license-key activation endpoint. The
Worker returns license status information, including an activation ID and
expiry where applicable, but v0.1.0 does not store those fields,
periodically re-validate the key, or call Polar when you press
Deactivate. Deactivate removes the local key and Pro status
only; it does not release the activation slot at Polar.
The license key is authentication information. We use it only to verify your Pro entitlement. If you never enter a key in the extension, the extension does not store or transmit one. Polar may still create and email a key after a purchase.
2.2. Purchase email (only if you buy Pro)
When you purchase Pro, checkout is handled by our payment processor, Polar.sh, which acts as the merchant of record. You provide your email address and payment details to Polar on the checkout page — not to the extension. The extension never sees, stores, or transmits your email address or payment details. As the seller, we can see your purchase record (such as your email and order details) in Polar's dashboard, and we use it to deliver your license key and to provide support and refunds.
2.3. Local error signals ("beacons")
v0.1.0 does not transmit error beacons. When Claude's layout causes a supported action to fail, the extension can add a small diagnostic entry to a capped local queue. Each entry contains only:
-
an internal identifier of the element or step that failed (for example,
openMenuormenuItem:delete); - a short error/context code (for example, which action was in progress);
- the version of our selector configuration and of the extension; and
- a timestamp.
These entries contain no page URLs, no page content, no chat data,
no chat titles, no personal identifiers, and no license key. The
current build keeps at most 50 entries in
chrome.storage.local and does not send them anywhere. We will
update this policy before enabling any telemetry in a future release.
2.4. What we never collect
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or use for advertising any of the following: the contents of your conversations, the URLs or content of pages you visit, your general browsing history, your Claude account credentials, your payment card details (those go only to our processor), or any analytics, tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting data. The extension contains no analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
3. Why we process this data (purposes)
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Local chat index, folders, pins, settings | Provide the extension's core features (organize, search, pin, clean up). Folder and pin data may use Chrome Sync if enabled. |
| License key | Verify your Pro entitlement and unlock Pro features. |
| Purchase email and order record (via Polar) | Deliver your license key; provide support and process refunds. |
| Local error entries | Help diagnose breakages during development or support. v0.1.0 does not transmit them. |
We process data only for these purposes and directly related operational purposes. We do not use any of it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
4. Service providers (processors)
We share data only with the providers strictly needed to run the service:
- Polar.sh — our payment processor and merchant of record. Handles Pro checkout, stores your purchase email and payment details, issues license keys, and processes license activations. See Polar's own privacy policy for details.
- Cloudflare — hosts this site and the license-activation Worker. Our Worker application code does not write license keys to a Sidewing database; it forwards activation requests to Polar. Cloudflare processes the request under its privacy policy.
- Google Chrome Sync (optional) — may process folder and pin data through your Google Account only when Chrome Sync is enabled. Sidewing cannot access that synced copy.
- Anthropic / Claude — already hosts your Claude account and chats. When you ask the extension to delete selected chats, it sends their IDs back to Claude's same-origin API using your existing session; that data is not sent to Sidewing, Polar, or Cloudflare.
We do not sell this data or share it with third parties for advertising.
5. Data retention
- On-device data (chat index, folders, pins, settings) is kept until you delete it or uninstall the extension. The synced folder/pin layout persists in your browser's sync storage until you change or remove it.
- License key is kept in local extension storage until local deactivation, storage clearing, or uninstall. Our Worker application code does not write keys to a Sidewing database; it forwards the key to Polar for activation. Polar retains license and activation records, and Cloudflare processes the request, under their respective privacy policies.
- Purchase records (including email) are retained by Polar and by us, as the seller, for as long as needed to provide the purchase, support, and refunds and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
- Local error entries are capped at 50 and remain in local extension storage until older entries roll off, the storage is cleared, or the extension is uninstalled. v0.1.0 does not transmit them.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.
- On-device data is under your direct control: manage it in the extension, or remove it by clearing the extension's storage or uninstalling.
- Purchase data (email, order record): contact us at sidewingapp@gmail.com to request access or deletion, or contact Polar.sh directly. We will honor valid requests as required by applicable law.
You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Security
All network requests made by the extension use HTTPS. The extension requests
the minimum browser permissions it needs (storage, and
injection on claude.ai only) and requests no broad host access.
It loads and executes no remote code.
8. Children
The extension is not directed to children and is intended for users who hold a Claude account in accordance with Anthropic's terms. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Limited Use disclosure (Chrome Web Store)
Our use and handling of data received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- we use the data only to provide and improve the extension's single, stated purpose and directly related operational purposes;
- we do not sell this data, and we do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide the service (our payment processor and hosting provider named above), for legal reasons, or as part of a merger or acquisition with equivalent protection;
- we do not use or transfer this data for advertising, retargeting, or personalized advertisements; and
- we do not use this data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your consent, to provide support, for security purposes, or as required by law.
